CRI HAS RECORD BREAKING WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!

May 17th, 2010

Braselton Ga:

Clem Racing Inc. (CRI) had its best weekend of racing ever!! Stewart Haas racing Developmental drivers Michael Atwell and Tyler Clem competed in the USAC Eastern States Series Championship .25 Next Gen races this past weekend in Braselton Ga. With nearly 100 cars entering the event the competition was stiff. Tyler qualified 2nd and sat on the outside pole of the Jr Honda race and passed pole sitter Chandler Smith midway thru the race and never looked back as Tyler went on to capture victory in the Jr Honda division AMain.

Tyler then set a new track record in the Briggs Jr Animal Division and sat on the pole of the AMain.
As Tyler was passing a lapped car the two tangled knocking off Tylers chain forcing him to come to the
pits for a quick repair. Upon the restart of the race Tyler due to his pit and repair was lined up in the rear of the field, Tyler then managed to pick off the entire field except the leader who had a sizeable lead with 6 laps to go. A yellow came out due to a wreck, with 5 laps remaining Tyler dove down low on the restart and went on to victory, picking up his 3rd Amain win of the weekend, and a first for Tylers young career.

A night before Tyler competed in the QMA Jr Honda division in New Smyrna. Tyler won that Amain as well.

Michael Atwell had a record breaking weekend as well. Michael set new track records in 2 of his 3 Divisions. Michael sat on the pole in all three of his races, and won the A mains in Light 160, Briggs SR Animal, and just got nipped on the last lap finishing second to Garrett Jones in the Light Briggs World formula.

Overview of this weekends events:

  • 3 track record qualifying times
  • 5 out of 6 AMain victories.

Tough Tough Day for CRI at USACS 2nd National Event

April 22nd, 2010

CRI arguably had 5 of the best cars out of the over 100 that competed this past
weekend in Braselton Ga. Tyler Clem started on the pole for the Junior Honda in the Amain
and finished fourth. Tyler also had the fastest Junior Animal as well starting on the pole of that Amain. After a wreck filled Amain, and 4 times the amount of laps due to reds and cautions, Tyler motor on his race car picked up some dirt in the carburetor causing the float to stick, causing Tyler to lose power with 4 laps remaining. Tyler lead the first 36 of 40 laps. Tyler finished 4th. Michaels luck was not any better for the day, with having 3 of the fastest cars in light 160, senior animal, and light world formula, michael lead or was leading in all three races before crashing out and finishing with 3 DFN’s in all three divisions, two of which michael was leading while getting crashed… tough tough day for CRI

Michael Atwell competed in the Light 160 the Light World Formula and the Senior Animal divisions. Michael made the Amain in all 3 divisions finishing 3rd in the Lt 160 after a hard hard fought battle with fellow stanley drivers In the World Formula race it again was a battle among the countries best Michael took the lead on the white flag lap only to be spun out 3 feet from the start finish line. In the Senior Animal Michael fought with fellow stanley drivers Rankin and Shullick and finished fourth.

Tyler Clem competed in two divisions Jr Honda and Jr Animal. Tyler didnt have luck on his side at all. Tyler was the fastest in early morning practice in both divisions. He also won both of his heats starting 5th and 1st respectfully in both Amains. IN hot laps of the Jr Honda race fellow Tampa Florida driver Danny Sams spun in front of Tyler and with no where to go Tyler hit danny and Tylers car was not repairable in time for the green, Danny went on to finish second. In the Jr Animal Tyler started on the poll and with less than ten laps left had a 1/2 lap lead on everybody, as Tyler was passing fellow tampa driver Aj Friedes, who was a lapped car, Aj and Tyler got together, the Judges put the blame on both cars forcing both cars to the rear, Tyler was able to work his way back up to 3rd.
